My Journey to Become a Writer 05/07/2024 Post #128

I’m doing some behind the scenes work for a few weeks, so I’m keeping these posts a bit more broad and maybe even a little vague for a season.

I’ll explain more later.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 128 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab, and I worked some more on adding Alternative Text to my Website images, so that I won’t be penalized by search engines for not explaining my pictures.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything in the category “Practical Tips for Writers”; but I went ahead and published an article intitled What is Alt Text for Images and Why You Should Use it in 2024. I already had the content written from one of my journey posts but it was hard to find, so I decided to go ahead and make a post solely about this topic. You can find it here:

Now I can find it, too 🙂 A lot of times I need reminders about what I have learned.

Aside from that, I’m making preparations to publish the updates I wrote for friends and family during my mom’s battle with pancreatic cancer. I’m currently doing some copying, pasting, proof-reading and maybe a little bit of laughing and crying as I work my way through that project. On Sunday, which is Mother’s Day, it will be one year since my mom died, so it’s kind of surreal to be facing this task.

I’ve got a lot of thoughts for future writing; but would like to make what I’ve written so far about our story more available for people who might be ministered to by reading it. I know hearing the experiences of others was a great help to me as we walked through her cancer journey.

My Office Management Strategy to Cut Down on Distractions as a Writer

I started using a second laptop recently, since this one is starting to seize up at times. Trying to come up with a system for using both devices interchangeably is a bit of a headache. I’m not a big fan of using OneDrive, so I’m trying to work out a sensible plan for keeping files organized without losing my senses. I haven’t found a good strategy yet.

Alright, time to get back to my writing project.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

I looked back at this post from 99 days ago and laughed. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be able to break certain habits; but little by little I hope I’m making some progress:

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
