Plankeye Publishing

Jesus’ words from Matthew 7:3-5, as recorded in the Bible, were my inspiration for the name Plankeye Publishing.

So often, it is easier to see in others what we can’t see in ourselves. I can mentally take a red pen to most any article in the paper and “make it better”; but I often miss my own mistakes.

I love to edit; but am so self-conscious about my own grammatical shortcomings, that I have hesitated to offer my services in this realm. I fully acknowledge that it is much easier for me to see your “speck” than my “plank”.

It’s quite possible there are mistakes in these paragraphs…

Good for you, if you’ve got an eye for that sort of thing. 🙂

Writing improves when we get fresh perspective from another set of eyes; but it’s often difficult to find a safe place for exposing our thoughts.

My policy is to encourage people to write poorly for their first draft. Just get the ideas down, messy as they may be. Organization happens later.

Aiming for perfection can be absolutely paralyzing when trying to put pen to paper.

The freedom to fill pages with chaotic ideas can help writers overcome fears that keep them from finishing projects. Concise structure and sentences can come in later drafts.

Whether sharing your life story, penning copy for a blog, trying to improve your creative writing skills (or your kid’s), or making up something as mundane as an owner’s manual, a second set of eyes can help smooth out the rough spots and make way for momentum.

I’d like to help.

I can’t promise perfect paragraphs; but I will aim to help you make the writing process less painful, and your work more readable.
