My Journey to Become a Writer 05/17/2024 Post #138

My brain is a bit mushy at the moment.

It’s been a long day, and I only have a little bit of energy left. I’ll start by saying that it’s hard to believe that a year ago today we were having the first of two funeral services for my mom.

Here is a video recording from that day, if you would like to watch it. I thought about doing that myself; but don’t have the emotional reserves to sit through it right now.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 138 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab, and I participated in a writing workshop and also Quiet Friday. I didn’t do a great job of keeping quiet during Quiet Friday and still keep cracking up when I look back on some unexpected events from that hour.

This morning I was looking at a “bottle brush bush” in its various stages and decided to use the different phases as a tangible way to understand story structure – then I shared that on Instagram. Please click here to view the post.

Okay, I’d better get to bed. Tomorrow is another big day.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

When I look back on this post from 100 days ago, I cringe, recalling how driven I was to get everything done, and how I knew I was driving myself further into the ground; but couldn’t see any way out of continuing to spin my wheels in survival mode. I’m grateful to have slowed down some:

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
