Today was another very full day. I’m trying to get better about shutting down with at least some margin before bedtime, so I’m just going to summarize.
What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?
I worked on creating a business card through Canva in preparation for an upcoming conference. It’s still a work in progress; but here’s what the back of the card looks like so far:
My grandparents’ barn was built in 1861, the year our country went to war with itself.
In 2018 I watched it be dismantled.
The barn was rebuilt and opened as a wedding venue in 2020, to celebrate two becoming one, in a time when once again, our nation was going through great division.
A lot happened in between and afterwards, and I’d like to share those stories.
It took me a while to figure out how to make a QR code; but it turns out that it’s pretty easy to generate one through Canva. I thought I had to use some other App; but that isn’t necessary.
I did Day 51 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through LA Writer’s Lab.
I also met with some other writers to work on editing a couple of pieces.
What Am I Afraid of Doing Next in My Journey as a Writer?
I’m kind of concerned that I’ll stay in the habit of working too late and not stepping away. I tend to do that.
Stuff I find myself saying: I need a real chair. My rear is falling asleep.

How Am I Balancing the Different Aspects of Being a Writer?
I’m skipping the rest of the questions and shutting down my computer at a semi-decent hour (it’s nearly 8p.m.) – that seems like the best form of balance for me right now.
Thanks for reading what I’m writing,
Jody Susan
Here’s the poem I just posted:
