My Journey to Become a Writer 01/07/2024 Post #7

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I rested.

Stuff I find myself saying: I’m exhausted.

– Jody Susan

I did do Day 7 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through LA Writer’s Lab, because I’m using that discipline to go back to keeping a daily journal.

How Am I Balancing the Different Aspects of Being a Writer?

Taking a day off at least once a week.

Trivia Question: Who invented taking a day off?

Answer: God.

Here’s a look at His work-week.

And this is a reference to God’s day of rest.

What I’m Doing About Building a Body of Work as a Writer

Telling myself: Like with working out, it’s important for writers to plan for recovery days to invoke fresh creativity, instead of creating drudgery.

What I’m Doing to Complete My Manuscripts as a Writer

Allowing my mind and eyes to take a break – before I go batty or blind from staring at my computer screen.

What I’m Doing to Grow My Website as a Writer

Letting it run while I rest.

What I’m Doing to Build My Blog as a Writer

I scheduled and wrote this post ahead of time (this is actually Friday; but I don’t feel like I’m fibbing about being on Day 7, because I’m fully disclosing and celebrating that I’m not going to be doing anything on this blog when Day 7 rolls around).

Doing this pre-scheduled post actually keeps me accountable to step away from my work.

Fun Fact About Me: I have a hard time getting my head to rest.

I continually take words and phrases, pull out the letters, then spell other stuff.

What I’m Doing About Networking as a Writer

Nothing on purpose today.

What I’m Doing About Monetization as a Writer

Nothing.

What I’m Doing About Social Media as a Writer

Purposefully not posting today – it’s too tempting to check, and if there is somehow a camatiy where I get…

Oh crud. I just misspelled calamity, and when I write clicked to check what I’d done wrong, I guess I accidentally added that word to the dictionary. My computer is asking me to define that term.

*a day off from editing, too.

Got any guesses about what way to use “camatiy”?

Mine would be:

Camatiy: a verb used when avoiding the potential drama of social media when you mean to be taking some down time,

because you just never know what’s going to come through in the comment section.

I guess I’ll go ahead and make that a real definition.

What would Noah Webster say?

I guess his 1828 Dictionary was done so that Americans could have their own language, instead of saying things the way the Brits thought they should be said.

But there I go rambling again…

I backtracked and tried to define it; but found out I’d run into more technology I couldn’t figure out how.

What I’m Doing About Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a Writer

I’m taking a day off to acknowledge my Creator.

What I’m Doing to Stay Organized as a Writer

Taking a break, so I can think straight when Monday comes.

Looking Back at My Writing Journey

With my eyes closed (probably taking a nap).

Any Other Thoughts on Becoming a Writer, Random Rants, Tales, or Trials…

I’m very grateful for the people who have encourage me to keep writing – and I’m even giving thanks for the few who have been kind of cruel in their criticism. All that has helped keep me determined to go forward.

Based on the context of this content, what do you think the definition of camatiy should be? Please leave a “clean” definition in the comments down below.

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
