My Journey to Become a Writer 04/19/2024 Post #110

I’m just halfway through the day; but decided to go ahead and get this done anyway.

I have to admit that as far as big tasks, I’m floundering a little.

It feels like there is a road block in front of every goal.

Instead of kicking against those goads, I’m trying to take care of some little tasks to at least keep the ball rolling…

How many metaphors can I mix in one post? So far I’m picturing a fish coming to a dead end road while kicking a ball with his fins. Okay, some days are like that.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 110 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab and participated in “Quiet Friday” led by Alan Watt. I also pre-wrote several of these entries for my upcoming days off and got them scheduled to publish automatically. I can always go in and add details; but for the most part I try to keep at least one day in seven super easy. That’s my strategy for staying consistent.

My Marketing & Distribution Strategies for Publishing & Improving My Platform

I’ve hardly published anything lately; but last night I recorded and posted a poem I’d written a while back. I’m going to put it up here in honor of Debbie Phillips’ eighty-third birthday, which is today:

I really want to increase my proficiency in the technical side of posting – Canva has been kind of confusing. I’d like to spend more time branding my posts, so I can get them up with more ease.

I’m grateful for how she’s encouraged me to keep writing – and comforted that she knows so many of “the characters” in my stories. In fact, she is one. I’m considering publishing the CaringBridge updates on my mom; but that’s complicated, so I don’t really know…

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

In all honesty, I can barely stand to read this next post. Probably because I’m still bobbling so many of the same areas…

At least I’m better able to see the struggle. Before, I was in too deep to realize what I was doing wasn’t going to work, even if I could increase my speed. At least all my failures give me some fodder for writing. Oh brother! 🙂

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
