My Journey to Become a Writer 04/12/2024 Post #103

I spent most of the morning formatting future blog posts. I’m pretty excited to finally be working ahead some.

As far as my To-Do List, I feel like I’m graduating from being the all-time target in an overly-aggressive game of dodgeball and moving on to juggling lessons.

I’m trying to avoid the temptation of picking up too many balls at a time.

My favorite form of time management is to focus on one project at a time; but in doing that, details tend to fall by the wayside. It’s a tender balance.

Time management is one of my favorite topics – when I have time for it.

Making batches of posts helps me to plan out a schedule, and by doing a bunch at once, I can rely more on muscle memory to click and paste in a much more efficient way.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 103 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through LA Writer’s Lab.

As I was pre-formatting blogposts I realized I’ve been spelling that wrong this whole time – plus I had the apostrophe in the wrong place, since writers is plural. Oops. I guess people searching for it probably misspell it, too.

I’m going to ward of perfection and just put one foot in front of the next. I think it took me until post #140 to fix it. I may try to fix it from here forward; but I might just let it go.

Sometimes I’ve got to let mistakes slide.

Today I worked some more on my manuscript by using The 90-Day Memoir during “Quiet Friday” with L.A. Writers’ Lab. I’ve decided not to write posts during that hour, because I realized the goal is to be off the internet during that time slot.

Today’s prompt was a repeat from the one we had March 8th where we were supposed to write for five minutes about what we see when we look in the mirror. My answer this time was much different. It just depends on the day with how I will respond to a writing prompt.

After that I had a call with someone I have asked to keep me accountable on my writing goals, and now I’m about to work on some scheduling issues. Little by little I’m gaining some ground. I’ve got to keep reminding myself of that or I wind up bewildered.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

Speaking of mirrors, I guess on Day 5 I learned to spell embarrassed by using mirror images of two of the letters. That’s kind of embarrassing to be talking about that:

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
