If I’m honest (which I want to be), right now, I’m writing this post just to get it done.
Some days with writing are like that, where I just do it out of discipline, and that’s okay.
It’s like putting in reps at the gym for an athlete, or practicing scales on the piano for a musician.
The habit of discipline leads to the freedom of motion.
I know practicing this craft on a daily basis has made my words come more fluidly.
So, I keep filling up journals, computer files and web pages.
What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?
I did Day 94 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writer’s Lab and participated in a class led by Mary-Beth Manning.
I also worked on QuickBooks, which has a little something to do with why I’m not motivated to write right now – I’m plumb worn out.
I guess could tell about listening to “Atomic Habits” and how he used Steve Martin’s determination in show business to be a success; but I’m too tired.
At least I did it. I made it to Day 94, which is a daily goal I’m going for.
I wrote my words. That’s a win in my book.
Thanks for reading what I’m writing,
Jody Susan
Here’s a piece I put out a while back about the little daily disciplines that can make a big difference:
