My Journey to Become a Writer 03/28/2024 Post #88

At this point in my life, I love Thursdays – the only weekday when I don’t have anything scheduled.

I had to let go of doing something I wanted to do in order to be able to say that; but I think this is the season to say “no” to what I want in order to say “yes” to what I need.

And I need to be home.

My stamina is increasing some; but by noon, I need to lay down again.

Is that lay, or lie? – I can never remember.

Another point of grammar where I’m still a bit dull.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 88 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through LA Writer’s Lab.

I got to the last chapter in Anne Lamott’s book, “Bird by Bird”, and I did quite a bit of organizing in the “archive section” of my house.

I finally finished rearranging boxes in the attic and have a better grip on what I’ve got.

Have you noticed that I’ve started every sentence in this section with “I”? I thought you probably had…

Anyway, an enormous weight is off of me now that those are in order. Many people have encouraged me to write about caregiving and grief, and I could cover entire chapters on the contents of those crates. Sorting through them and setting them aside is the best thing for me to do right now. Maybe there will be a day when I’m ready; but right now the thought of creating and incubating more content when I’ve got so much written that needs to be pushed out of the nest towards publication is just too much.

I needed to declutter; but I’m not quite ready to capture the significance of my mom’s possessions, papers, and pictures into words, so I’m going to wait. I mean, it’s hard to explain golf tees with lipstick stains that were used as curler pins (I think she’d put them in her mouth as she was rolling her hair). There’s a lot of material there.

Maybe someday I’ll tell you all about it; but in the meantime,

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

When I did a search for #88 this is the video that popped up. It’s hard to believe that about nine months ago I was making myself ready to live in a cargo trailer that was parked between a garbage dump and a graveyard. I was having a good time; but I’m grateful God had a better spot in mind that I was totally oblivious to. Here’s a look back:

I was so excited about my 12 yards of “yard” on clearance from Hobby Lobby – who knew I’d soon be mowing acres???

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
