Today was another slowed down day.
What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?
I did Day 65 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through LA Writer’s Lab and watched a recording of a class I missed last week.
I also worked on whittling a piece from my book “About Trees” down into a section that could be read for a couple of my writing groups in less than seven minutes. I am trying not to sound like that guy who used to be the spokesman for FedEx and Micro Machines:
John Moschitta, Jr., the world’s fastest talking man, says he had five sisters, so being able to speak five hundred words a minute was how he got a word in edge-wise.
According to the Words-To-Time Website standard, that’s pretty fast.
Common conversions according to the Words To Time Website (average speed):
How long does it take to read 500 words? | 3.8 minutes |
How long does it take to read 750 words? | 5.8 minutes |
How long does it take to read 1000 words? | 7.7 minutes |
How long does it take to read 1200 words? | 9.2 minutes |
How long does it take to read 1500 words? | 11.5 minutes |
How long does it take to read 1800 words? | 13.8 minutes |
How long does it take to read 2000 words? | 15.4 minutes |
How long does it take to read 3000 words? | 23.1 minutes |
I still tend to read faster than their fast speed.
I’m trying to slow down my reading and slow down my life. Today I worked on both.
Thanks for reading what I’m writing,
Jody Susan
Ironically, for me, part of slowing down, is learning to write fast:
