My Journey to Become a Writer 11/03/2024 Post #308

This is pre-posted, since today is my weekly day off.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I probably did Day 308 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab – I use that as a reminder to journal daily, which helps me keep my head on straight.

Hopefully, I took a nap.

What I’m Doing as Chief Operating Officer of My Writing Business to Move Forward

I’ve been taking a long, hard look at what I want “Jody Susan Writes” to look like as a business. Frankly, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed by the steep mountain of learning it seems to take to get a manuscript written and sent into the world.

As I’ve faced that for myself, I’ve had a growing desire to help other people navigate the path through publication, but I know I need to keep watching my own steps, if I’m to be of any service to others.

The most important skill I’ve been learning lately is the ability to ask people if they are willing to help. Hiring people, and seeking advice are not my strong suits. Quite frankly, delegation tends to stress me out, but my To Do List is too much to do on my own. I love helping, so I’m learning to give people an opportunity to do for me what I’ve done for others. My biggest hurdle isn’t so much pride as it is fear, but I suppose pride plays a part, too.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

The post down below from 99 days ago was written the day I got back from The Taylor Professional Writers Conference. I mentioned making quite a few contacts – I haven’t done much follow up with anyone. I tend to be like a stone – skipping over the water in a hurry. Maybe it’s time to sink down and settle in more…

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
