My Journey to Become a Writer 11/02/2024 Post #307

This post is pre-written, because I know this Saturday is going to be super-busy.

I guess the lesson in that is: To be a steady writer, it’s good to learn how to pre-schedule and get things done when work is a bit lighter. There’s a freedom that comes with being prepared.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I probably did Day 307 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab.

*I didn’t. I think this is the second day in the year that I skipped the writing challenge. The only other time was an 18 hour day when I was flying from Spain to the U.S. – if I’d had six more hours maybe I could have gotten it done… This Saturday was the first time this year that I flat out chose not to write. I was just way too tired – I’d worked to help empty the storage unit and attended a “donut dinner”. The other days that I “missed” are ones that I’m pretty sure I wrote – but forgot to check in…

Hopefully, I finally emptied the contents of the storage unit I filled when my dad sold his house. Some friends have volunteered, so I’ve spent this week preparing – by getting shelves set up in my garage, labeling boxes with painter’s tape, so people know whereabout to put them, and making decisions on what to keep.

Having this done seems like it will reduce my stress, so I can settle in more and focus on the actual writing process.

How Having a CEO is Helping My Writing & Business Strategy

I’ve been trying to keep a list of what I actually cross off during the week, and then checking in with someone who knows my plan, so that I can have help staying on track. I tend to feel like I haven’t made progress, but when I can talk out what I’ve done and what I plan to do, the person with the bird’s eye view tends to be able to tell that I am moving forward when I am blinded by the thick of the weeds.

Speaking of which, I can see that I’d better go start whacking away at some more tasks.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

The post down below from 99 days ago was encouraging to read. I saw that I said I needed to get new glasses – I finally got around to that just last week. Oh wow – sometimes it’s ridiculous how long it takes me to do tiny tasks…

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
