My Journey to Become a Writer 09/11/2024 Post #255

It’s been twenty-three years since September 11th became the name of a tragedy, instead of just a date on the calendar.

I can still remember hearing about a plane crash. I was driving my dad’s big, red truck to a park to go for a run beneath that beautiful, blue sky.

When I heard from a stranger that there were two planes and people suspected terrorism, my initial response was, That’s how rumors get started.

Then I saw for myself – I stood in my parent’s family room, watching people watch the towers – then there was that other worldly cloud chasing them, and then they disappeared. I held my breath, knowing there was no way they could inhale air.

The whole world seemed to reevaluate priorities from that point forward.

It was maybe a month or two later that I decided I would quit my job and become a writer. I did, but there was a story I still needed to live before I could truly have something to tell…

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 255 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab and worked on recording my audiobook. I’ve pretty much cut out dairy in the mornings, thinking it might effect my voice. Well, this morning I decided to have some yogurt, which gave my gut a voice! At least, I guess that’s what happened.

We kept having to retake parts, because my stomach would be sounding off into the microphone. It was mildly humiliating. I won’t be doing that again. But maybe it wasn’t the dairy – could it have been the Wasabi I had the day before? I don’t know. Both will probably be on my “Do Not Eat” list for a little bit.

My Content Management Strategies to Create and Schedule Manuscripts and Posts

Today I started thinking about some possible posts I could do on Time Management.

I had set my timer for five minutes, so I could get some weeding done before my audio session. Then I set the phone on the hood of my car.

Well, can you guess what happened?

I was flying down the road at about sixty miles per hour when I came face to face with a rectangle on my windshield. My “timer” that AT&T charges a hefty fee for.

Well, “Time Flies” – and there went my phone – flinging itself through the air and bouncing across the asphalt. I had to drive back and forth for a bit before I could find it. So much for time management skills…

As far as book content, I’m trying to practice self-control and get “Can Cancer Be a Gift?” completed before moving on to another book project. Multi-tasking manuscripts seems kind of miserable. Hopefully, I’ll remember not to over-extend myself…

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

The post down below from 99 days ago leads to one of my favorite posts that I’ve put on social media…

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
