What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 254 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab and listened to a recorded talk given by an author this summer at a writing conference. I also got some advice from a fellow-writer on ideas for moving forward with my publishing and social media plan. Other than that, I tuned out on my manuscript to get my errands done. I’d much rather be writing, but every so often things need to get done.

My Office Management Strategy to Cut Down on Distractions as a Writer

The stress relief that comes with having files in order and paper stacks reduced helps me exponentially. It’s very hard for me to be creative when I feel like life is “out of control”. Lately, I have had a short list assigned to each day of the week to help me do a quick sprint through emails and paper every morning. This has been much more effective than letting the looming piles build. I still have a ways to go before a lot of the debris is cleared, but little by little I’m building a more disciplined routine and finding a great deal of joy and freedom in the process.

The post down below from 99 days ago was also done on an errand day, I do believe. That’s about how few and far between my trips to a bigger city tend to be. Traffic seems to be the running theme for both.
