My Journey to Become a Writer 08/22/2024 Post #235

It’s 9:09 p.m.

It looks like I still haven’t learned my lesson about not working so late.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 235 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab and practiced reading through my manuscript as a script for upcoming recording sessions. There were some minor changes I needed to make for the sake of clarity, but overall, it’s been working well. The one hiccup I hit today was wondering what to do about quoting songs. I think I’m going to need to get permission to use some lyrics, but that feels like a big headache to go through.

Other than that, I worked on “job descriptions” in order to sort out in my head what kind of tasks need to be done to get this business off the ground. Oh, and I spent more time on my budget. And I tested out the throat spray and lozenges I got from Sweetwater Sound to hopefully help me not cough while I’m recording.

Research & Development I’m Doing to Improve My Writing & Business Strategy

Before, I was really focusing on creating content to help other writers, but I’m realizing it’s best to finish my own pieces and then share later what I learned in the process. In a lot of ways, I’ve been getting the cart before the horse. And this horse is tired, so I’d better hit the hay.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

The post down below from 99 days ago was written while I was on a writing retreat to Tuscany through L.A. Writers’ Lab:

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
