My Journey to Become a Writer 08/13/2024 Post #226

I went to another funeral today, and the funeral home director greeted me by my first name.

For me, that felt pretty raw, like I’ve interacted with death too many times.

I felt a weight of grief pressing down on me for most of the rest of the day. Thankfully, God’s mercies are new every morning.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 226 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab and attended a writing group. I also read a piece a fellow writer has wrote and offered feedback, then did a Zoom call with another writer. We have been talking about our mutual struggles with story structure – and laughing a lot.

My Office Management Strategy to Cut Down on Distractions as a Writer

Today I made major progress towards organizing my email “file cabinet”. My goal is to have an empty inbox every day, and that’s starting to happen more often than not. The post down below from 99 days ago reminds me receiving the comment “I hate you”. When I reported that to Instagram, they countered back, “We don’t consider that to be hate speech.” That cracked me up – in a sad sort of way.

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
