My Journey to Become a Writer 08/08/2024 Post #221

I think it was yesterday that someone said, “I can tell you’re a writer.”

Well, I guess that’s huge progress towards my goal.

Today I got my first publishing contract. It’s not a paid gig, but it is a chance to put my work out publicly and have a reference point.

I sent the contract to someone for counsel before I turn it in. I really don’t think there are hang-ups with this one, but I want to make seeking a second set of eyes my habit for future agreements, so I figured I should start now.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 221 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab, used notes from yesterday’s recording session to edit my manuscript, practiced reading ahead as if my book is a script, made a few alterations and spent time recording “Can Cancer be a Gift?”

Research & Development I’m Doing to Improve My Writing & Business Strategy

My eyes are crossing, because I’ve been going hard on not much sleep. The more I learn about audio recording the more I’m glad I’ve found somebody to edit for me. I keep saying, “You can do anything, but you can’t do everything.” It’s been a blessing to have other people take up the baton in areas I’m too fatigued to run fast in.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

The post down below from 99 days ago is funny to read today, because I used the same Anne Lamott quote just a few hours ago:

Jody

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
