I’ve been trying to solidify a story all day. I’d been told to go through the structure points to make an outline – in five minutes. Somehow I couldn’t do it. I just kept pouring out one page worth of words after another.
Then I tried to make multiple batches of cookies at one time. I got confused and tuckered out, so none of the dough ended up in the oven.
In some ways, today feels like a failure, but the story that’s coming forth is starting to have an aroma of goodness about it.
What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?
I did Day 215 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab and participated in Quiet Friday, an online group that meets weekly to write together. I felt like I’d barely blinked before the hour was up. I didn’t realize I was probably crying some on camera. This piece I’m working on is so close to my heart that it’s hard not to lose perspective.
My Marketing & Distribution Strategies for Publishing & Improving My Platform
Well, what I’m working on now is a submission for publication with an author who is known to be an L.A. Times Best Seller. He also teaches storytelling, so I figure that’s a step. Next week I plan to start recording an audiobook. I meant to read through that content, but have had too many irons in the fire (even though there are no cookies in the oven). Other than that, I’ve been going through emails, working on a budget, and sorting through papers in hopes of having a clear runway if any of this stuff ever takes off.
Thanks for reading what I’m writing,
Jody Susan
The post down below from 99 days ago makes me grateful my garage is pretty orderly, and inspires me that maybe my manuscripts will get there, too.
