My Journey to Become a Writer 08/01/2024 Post #214

It’s 5:16 P.M., so that’s something for me to be sitting down to do this.

I’m forcing myself to set my list aside for the rest of the night – at least as far as the computer is concerned.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 214 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab (I did it yesterday, too, but forgot to sign in on the website). I also cleared house in my inboxes. There are still a lot to sort through, but I think I’ve got a better system using labels, so that I can file things to do and things to keep with more efficiency and common sense than the system (I use that word loosely) that I had before.

I also didn’t realize that gmail does a lot of sorting ahead of time, so I’m going to start using that feature.

I’ve found that “Unsubscribe” is my friend.

I also listened to the piece that’s been accepted for publication (I just have to pair it down). I hadn’t picked it up in a month, and my first instinct was to think that it sounds like a frenetic synopsis of an entire book, instead of a submission chapter. I need to slow the pace way down and pull a bunch out – so it’s back to the drawing board.

My plan is to write a short outline and see what I can cull out that doesn’t fit in. I’m thinking the theme might be over-officiousness – being overly-helpful, but really winding up in the way.

Research & Development I’m Doing to Improve My Writing & Business Strategy

As I’m going through my emails, I’m trying to organize information, so that it will be easy to grab (like how to write a query, examples of newsletters, book launch content, etc…). I’d like to be able to pull examples from what other people have done before.

I’m also trying to expand my QuickBooks knowledge, so I filled in the “contractor” information for a couple of people I work with, so that in the future “invoicing” won’t feel like a foreign process.

Little by little I’m learning to spin a lot more plates. Prayerfully, they won’t all stop or crash at once.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

The post down below from 99 days ago could have been written by Eeyore himself – if he could type, but I don’t think he can – not that he exists.

Just call me Rhonda Raincloud. I wonder why he has a “y” in his name, anyway?

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
