My Journey to Become a Writer 07/31/2024 Post #213

9:54 P.M. – apparently I’m still not doing too well in the scheduling department…

…but I did make a lot of headway on budget planning today, so I feel like it was worth it. Hopefully I can fine tune things tomorrow. I’m making myself quit for the night.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I didn’t do Day 213 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab yet. Oops – I set it aside this morning, and of course I’m regretting it now. Hang on… okay, I flossed, brushed my teeth (not in that order), tried to do too many things at once, cleaned up the kitchen, wrote my hundred plus words (since somehow in my mind, these don’t count), answered some texts, and here it is 10:16 P.M. Okay, I gotta get a better schedule.

I also had an appointment to discuss recording and editing my audiobook. The plan is to start recording next week. I guess I’d better start singing, “Mama made me wash my M&Ms – Hmm, Hmmm…” to get my voice going.

And last but not least, I spent a significant amount of time formulating a long-range budget. I think I need some financial boundaries to make my decision making less fuzzy. It’s a relief to have all my expenses in a straight column, so I can start making decisions about how to move forward in a less scattered way.

Creating this writing business, and spending time expressing words, instead of getting a regular paycheck is a scary deal, but I feel like it’s what I’m called to do, and I’m trusting the Lord to provide as I seek Him. He’s certainly never let me down in that department.

My Content Management Strategies to Create and Schedule Manuscripts and Posts

Write now (okay, it really is late)… Right now I’m juggling three pieces. Two are submissions for different collaborations, and one is the book about my mom. For now, my memoir and social media posts are pretty much on hold. I feel like I need to get some foundational issues taken care of before I move forward (mostly in the arena of office administration).

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

The post down below from 99 days ago is a good reminder, since I’m struggling with some of the same issues today…

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
