Today was a super-full day – but I didn’t feel the frenzied pace I’ve been pushing myself with.

I participated in a Writers’ Conference. To be less task oriented, I let myself forsake a class on SEO – swapping it to hear an author of forty books, who I thoroughly enjoyed.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 208 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab and shared two pieces I wrote about my mom in an open mic session. Being on stage under the spot light wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. I’m grateful for the friends who let me practice ahead of time – and who prayed for me. I’m trying to rest in the confidence that God can give me strength to do uncomfortable things. Tonight proved to me that He does.

My Marketing & Distribution Strategies for Publishing & Improving My Platform

I’ve learned quite a bit about marketing and social media the last two days – along with issues in finding a publishing company as opposed to doing things independently. I set my business cards out on a “freebies” table and participated in discussions. I didn’t hide under a table or inside a bathroom stall, so I guess I’m putting myself out there more.

Right now I feel like I’m just gathering information to formulate a plan. There are so many different directions I could head. I’m doing my best to sit still and contemplate what I want my life to look like and where writing and publishing will fit into that picture…

The post down below from 99 days ago is a reminder that it has been longer than I thought since my eye doctor said I need some stronger readers. It’s time I got to Costco for a pack of spectacles. 🙂
