What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 200 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab. I met with my editor to get an overview of the notes, comments, and corrections she did on my “About Trees” manuscript. Going through the rewrite process will probably start soon.

I also spent more time coding images with numbers. Preparing that part of the book about my mom feels complicated, because it’s a different format than what I had for my website. All the images have to come out of the text, and if that’s the case, I have to keep track of captions and where (and if) I’ll put them back in. There are also issues with trademarks, copyright, consent, and all that to consider. It feels slightly insurmountable. Tonight I just had to step away, because it was starting to make me feel sick to keep plugging along.

As much as I’ve tried to pace myself, I still think I’m trying too hard and pushing myself too much. Somehow that needs to change.

Research & Development I’m Doing to Improve My Writing & Business Strategy

I kind of cringe at this subtitle. It seems like a lot of my stress is that I’m continually needing to learn some new skill. I like learning new things, but sometimes I would prefer to do something familiar for a change. I don’t mean to complain. I’m just having a tough time keeping traction on my To Do List.

I’m growing buckwheat in my garden, but I’ve also got a lot of weeds that need to be tended to. My ground has been neglected, and in some ways it seems like a picture for how my own basic needs have gone by the wayside. I think I need to pay better attention.
