My Journey to Become a Writer 07/17/2024 Post #199

I nearly forgot to check in tonight.

My wrist is better today, because I took breaks to walk – but my eyes have still had a hard time.

I’ve been staring at a screen too long – trying to get this manuscript complete.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 199 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab and made a lot of progress on my book (and on setting up a system to follow in the future, so the process will be more streamlined and I can create products with consistency).

The issues of images and copyright in this manuscript about my mom have been complicated. I have so many questions and want to do things right – it overwhelms me sometimes. It’s like I’m standing at a wall, looking way, way up, asking questions about consent, and what about photos of grandkids, and is the Cardinals mascot sitting next to my mom a Trademark infringement. Not to mention my lack of comprehension when it comes to using semi-colons. There’s still a lot I have to learn. I guess that keeps things interesting.

My Content Management Strategies to Create and Schedule Manuscripts and Posts

Well, I went through this post today: Parts Of A Book (the definitive guide for authors in 2022) (authority.pub) and used it to set up a computer filing system to use on this manuscript and future projects, so that I can easily put the pieces together and keep track of minute details.

I also started an Excel spread sheet I plan to use to label and number images and videos – and keep track of captions – so that my hard drives aren’t so hard to navigate.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

The post down below, from 99 days ago was when I hit day 100, so a little math for tomorrow means…

Reading this makes me glad, because I think I finally figured out the issue with my freezer (though I nearly bit a screw as a consequence). You can hear about that on my Instagram account.

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
