My Journey to Become a Writer 07/16/2024 Post #198

I either need to get a more ergonomic setup, or take more breaks. Probably both.

My right hand is numb.

So is my right brain – and the left side has left.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 198 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab and met with a friend to discuss manuscript and graphic design ideas. She gave me a much needed punctuation lesson, and we talked about an upcoming conference and next steps for our books.

After making a list of all the “parts of a book”, I delved into design work on my manuscript for my mom. So far I’ve got drafts of the front cover, back cover, spine, frontispiece, page # icon, title page, copyright page and dedication. Hopefully, tomorrow I can gather the images for the body and finish drafts for everything else.

My Office Management Strategy to Cut Down on Distractions as a Writer

This is a tough one. I fall so short in this area, but on Saturday I did trim the legs of a table that had lost part of one limb, so I now have more workspace. I also set up some shelves using old shutters and random scraps of wood, so I’m on my way to having a better setup – I just need to make paperwork and clearing files part of my regular routine.

I did make it to the Post Office today, and that was progress.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

The post down below, from 99 days ago, was my first 99 day lookback, so that’s kinda somethin’. Ironically, the initial lawnmower breakdown was also way back then – the company just came to pick it up today to make other repairs. Some problems are cyclical I suppose…

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
