My Journey to Become a Writer 07/13/2024 Post #195

Well, I wrote way too late last night, so I decided to spend the day doing manual labor and getting things organized. My garage looks so good. I’m so grateful.

It’s after 6 p.m., and I just now turned on my WiFi – what a wonderful feeling to take a break.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 195 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab. and cleaned out my garage – hopefully there will be less chatter in the back of my head about getting that done.

I also took a table that’s been missing a few inches off of one leg for a long time and cut all the sides shorter, so it can sit flat. I’m pretty excited about this, because it makes a nice little workspace, if I’m sitting on an exercise ball. I also took some random wood scraps and old house shutters to make shelves for my office. Getting things in order helps unclutter my head, so it can be clear to write.

How Having a CEO is Helping My Writing & Business Strategy

I tend to be a planner, but I also struggle with switching strategies too often – mostly because I’m trying to spin too many plates. So, I have worked in some accountability to keep me on track and keep my workload more evenly distributed. Even when I’m getting a lot done in one area, I tend to feel guilty that in doing so, I’m letting other stuff fall by the wayside. It helps to have other people see the bigger picture.

This morning I went back through my planner and listed everything listed that I hadn’t gotten done. I used to be really disciplined about drawing a line through completed tasks and a squiggle through stuff I didn’t get to – and then I’d move the not done items forward. But life hasn’t been “normal” for a long time, so today I went back and searched through my planner for everything I missed, scribbled it onto some paper I plan to deal with tomorrow, and snipped the corners from every page of my planner I’d reviewed, so I won’t feel like I have to go back again. Moving forward is my main focus.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

The post down below, from 99 days ago, sparked my memory of trying to record Quiet Fridays here on this blog. I decided I’d better not do that anymore – the writing prompts are too personal, and I wind up getting misunderstood. During yesterday’s Quiet Friday I worked on a draft for a collaboration that will hopefully be published soon.

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
