My Journey to Become a Writer 06/18/2024 Post #170

I had another day of losing track of time while writing. I need to be better about ergonomics, because my wrists are suffering for it.

My buckwheat is beginning to grow. All those little seeds I scattered, buried, and watered are finally starting to get raised to life. I know that God causes that growth, and I’m so grateful.

It gives me hope that all these words that I’ve planted for so long on my computer might bear some fruit as well.

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 170 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab and worked more on my collaboration piece, which is due June 30th. Right now it’s way too long; but I’m just getting the story down and will cut back on it later – it feels like a big block of stone that needs to be sculpted down to something more specific.

Today I met with my writing group and we went through a proposed layout for our upcoming publication. One member gave me a good lead for getting a project I have been working on completed by someone who is local. I have enjoyed his work in the past; but don’t know him personally. Networking like we do seems to help this process move along at a better pace.

Here’s yesterdays Instagram link, if you’d like to take a look and cast your vote:

A vending machine that sells eggs
Do you think a vending machine can deliver eggs without breaking them?

I’ve never gotten a comment quite so abrupt; but this one came in today.

An Instagram comment
Somebody commented “I hate you” on my Instagram. It made me laugh out loud, because it seemed so ludicrous.
My response - I said, "well bless your heart. It's a good thing Jesus loves us both."
Here’s my response.

My Office Management Strategy to Cut Down on Distractions as a Writer

My office stuff makes me slap my forehead. Papers, and files, and computer information, and cyber space and all that stuff are way beyond my brain. I’m trying to get better about not being overwhelmed by all of it. All the apps that offer to help seem to make things even more mixed up.

Yesterday and today I did use my insurance’s “safe driving” app to remind me of where I’ve been, so I could get up to date on my mileage reports in QuickBooks. It’s nice to be caught up in that area.

After that I tried to tackle some confusing medical bills. I can’t say I love it when I’m on hold for a long time and they keep thanking me for my patience.

Hopefully if I persevere, some more order will come from the rubble around me.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

I think my heart is a little less broke than it was 99 days ago, or maybe the shattered pieces are just bound up more tightly, thanks to Jesus. Here’s a look at where I was back then:

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
