My Journey to Become a Writer 05/24/2024 Post #145

I think that one year ago was the day we had my mom’s funeral service in Wabash, Indiana. That seems so far off right now.

I went to a plant nursery this afternoon and felt a little overwhelmed by the blanket of grief that pushed down on me in the form of plant smells and humidity. It felt so familiar to days gone by when I’d follow my mom around as she perused the flower pots.

I finally have a chance to really garden, and just when I’m ready to start, she’s gone. It’s a strange, wistful feeling that makes me weary.

Last night, I scheduled some posts on Instagram for the upcoming week. This one accidentally snuck out early. You can hear the song I chose (and ponder the age old question it asks) by clicking here:

A wood stack with a huge tree trunk in the center of the pile of smaller triangular logs
Does anybody actually know what a woodchuck chucking wood looks like in real life?

And here’s the post I put up today (please click here to see the video and listen to the song):

A chicken coop with small beehives attached to the side which are made from lots of little tubes of bamboo attached closely together for the bees to fly into

I’ve been told these hives aren’t for producing honey. They are for the purpose of pollination. I don’t know that they would really be called hives. Since I don’t know the answers, I guess I get a “B” for this portion. “C” what I mean? Pretty funny, “A?” Okay, I’ll stop before you tell me to buzz off.

Speaking of flowers here are the videos from my mom’s funeral. I’m obviously tired, because that was a pretty pathetic transition…

Regardless, here they are (for some reason they couldn’t be combined into one – sorry about that):

What Did I Accomplish Today to Be a Writer?

I did Day 145 of the 100 Words a Day Writing Challenge 2024 through L.A. Writers’ Lab.  I spent time trying to get my manuscript formatted for publishing. It’s rather tedious work; but I do enjoy it once I get going. After a while my brain and eyesight need a sabbatical, so I have to take breaks.

And now I need to head to bed.

Thanks for reading what I’m writing,

Jody Susan

This post from 99 Days ago seems very far off. Hopefully I’ve made some progress:

I'm not sure what to say here: I once got second place in a dog-look-alike-contest? I know how to fold a fitted sheet? I'm pretty much a poster child for social backwardness - at least as far as social media is concerned; but I have some stories I think I'm supposed to share and am attempting to do that here, in this space.
