Come on up to the Cloud Room and enjoy the rooftop garden while warming up your storytelling muscles with coffee, tea, and some light breakfast options. Make yourself comfortable – we’re about to start cooking up stories.
9:45 AM – Creating a Story Arc
Every successful baker starts by learning recipes. Storytelling is no different. We’ll be taking a closer look at key elements for making a satisfying story. Before a cup of flour can be scooped for cake, kernels of wheat have to be crushed. Tragedy for the grain can’t get to triumph at the table without first facing sifting, stirring, beating, and being doused by boiling water. All that happens before the battle scene of being shoved in an oven. Fire transforms flour into cake fit for a feast. So it is with stories.
10:45 AM – Covering Story Beats
11:45 AM – Boxed Lunches & Storyboard Frames
We’ll be giving out boxed lunches from Twenty, the restaurant downstairs, and getting down to business by filling in the boxes of a storyboard to practice our skills.
12:45 pM – Share Your “Cake” – and Eat It, Too!
We can’t spend half the day talking about making storytelling a piece of cake and not offer any cake to eat. While enjoying our treat, we’ll take time for sharing storyboards and celebrating what we’ve learned.
1:15 pM – Wrap Up
My goal is that by the end of this workshop we’ll all be better equipped to make sharing our stories a piece of cake.
